CSR: Kwetu Home of Peace – Madaraka

CSR - Kwetu Home of Peace

Kwetu Home of Peace is a rehabilitation Centre for street boys between ages 8-14 years, established in 1993 in response to increasing number of children on the streets of Nairobi, Kwetu’s goal is to “ensure that street children are rehabilitated and developed to their full potential to become productive members of society”.

It strives to achieve this vision – To Love Is To Share by reaching out to street children in Nairobi to give them love, hope and dignity to maximally develop their potentials.

Kwetu Home of Peace has two centers: The Nairobi West Center hosts about 30 children while the larger home in Ruai sits on a 40 acre piece of land where the bigger children stay as they school before re-integration back to the society.

On the 22nd August 2019, Eka Hotel was privileged to visit the Kwetu Home of Peace in Nairobi West area. The Eka Hotel team has seven representatives from various departments. During the event, Eka Hotel under Amrit Foundation shared good monents with the Kwetu Home of Peace community and made food donations.

Sr. Caroline (the Home Director), Sr. Esther, the Board’s Vice Chairman among other community staff were in attendance. They thanked Eka Hotel on its commitment towards supporting the Home in the last few years. In this regard, the Hotel was awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Home.

My Chosen Vessel – CSR

For the Maasai living without electricity, the impact of solar technology is unparallel. Currently, the majority of the Maasai families that My Chosen Vessel (MCV) is serving do not have electricity. Not only does solar power protect forests, but it also improves the health of women and children who often get sick for inhaling fumes from smoky fires and paraffin lamps.

MCV has been providing solar lights so children can study in the evenings and we are seeing a tremendous increase in their academic performance.

Once again this year, Eka Hotel and the Amrit Foundation Trust is happy to have supported the cause which will see more children studying in the evenings, a tremendous increase in their academic performance and better environmental conservation.
